Good Friday procession in Romont, Switzerland - 29 Mar 2024
Veiled women known as 'les Pleureuses' or mourning women, whose heads are covered with a piece of black cloth to commemorate the Passion and Crucifiction of Jesus walk in a procession after the Good Friday mass, next to the Collegiale de Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, in Romont, Switzerland, 29 March 2024. The ceremony commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus, where the Pleureuses carry the symbols of the passion: a crown of thorns, a whip, a hammer, tongs, and St. Veronica's shroud, preceded by a penitent, wearing a black hood, who carries a large cross.
