Augustinian Polyptych panels reunited in exhibition in Milan, Italy - 19 Mar 2024
The paintings 'San Giovanni Evangelista' (L) and 'San Nicola da Tolentino' (R), two panels of the Augustinian Polyptych created by Piero Della Francesca, on display during the exhibition 'Piero della Francesca and the reunited Augustinian Polyptych' at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan, Italy, 19 March 2024. Dismembered at the end of the sixteenth century, the Augustinian Polyptych created by Piero Della Francesca between 1454 and 1469 for the high altar of the Augustinian church in Borgo San Sepolcro in the Arezzo area is partly recomposed for the first time. Poldi Pezzoli Museum managed to bring together the eight known panels (the central panel and a large part of the predella were lost), uniting with its S. Nicola, the four from the Frick Collection in New York and those from National Gallery in London, National in Washington and the Museum of Antique Art in Lisbon.
