Bolsonaro causes controversy by extending giant Brazilian flag in Presidency HQ, Brasilia, Brazil - 15 Oct 2022
A giant Brazilian national flag placed on the arches of the Palacio do Planalto, in Brasilia, Brazil, 15 October 2022. The Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who aspires to re-election, generated an intense controversy this Friday by extending a gigantic Brazilian flag at the headquarters of the Presidency because it is not only the national symbol but also one of the emblems of his electoral campaign. The far-right leader not only determined that officials of the Presidency itself extend the flag but, in an apparent provocation to his opponents and the electoral justice system, he challenged someone to order the removal of the national symbol from public buildings.
