China's first far-reaching offshore floating wind power platform, "COOEC Mission Hills", set sail from Qingdao - 24 Feb 2023

On February 23, with the support of the Qingdao Maritime Safety Administration, the floating wind power platform "COOEC Mission Hills", built by Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd., set sail smoothly from Qingdao West Coast New Area. It is reported that the "CNOOC Mission Hills" platform is composed of three side columns and one central column. The side length is more than 80 meters, the height is about 35 meters, and the weight is nearly 4000 tons. The fan will be installed on the central column. The platform will be installed in the offshore oil field area 136 kilometers away from Wenchang, Hainan. The sea area has high winds and waves. It is the world's first "double hundred" offshore wind power project with water depth of more than 100 meters and offshore distance of more than 100 kilometers. After the project is put into operation, the power generated by the wind turbine is connected to the power grid of the offshore oil field group through dynamic submarine cables for oil and gas production. The annual power generation can reach 22 million kilowatt-hours, reducing the carbon dioxide emissions by 22000 tons.
