Iran Presidential Election 2024, Tehran - 01 Jul 2024
Two Iranian men sit next to posters featuring a portrait of a former reformist member of parliament and presidential elections candidate Masoud Pezeshkian in front of the central election headquarters for Pezeshkian. At the same time, people gather to watch a live televised debate between Iran's 2024 presidential election candidates, Saeed Jalili, Iranian presidential ultraconservative candidate and top former nuclear negotiator, and Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian presidential reformist candidate, in downtown Tehran. The recent Iranian presidential election showed a decline in support for reformists and conservatives. However, some voters still advocate for change by endorsing the sole reformist candidate, Masoud Pezeshkian. Following a historically low turnout, he will face ultraconservative Saeed Jalili in a runoff on July 5.
