Second proceedings against far-right AFD politician Hoecke for use of banned Nazi slogan, Halle, Germany - 26 Jun 2024
The court room door during the trial against Bjoern Hoecke (not pictured), a former history teacher and current leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) political party in the state of Thuringia, during what is expected to be the last day of his second trial for using a banned Nazi-era slogan in Halle, Germany, 26 June 2024. Prosecutors accuse Hoecke of having concluded a political rally in Gera in 2023 by yelling out 'Alles fuer . . . " and letting the crowd complete it with ". . . Deutschland' ('Everything for Germany'), a slogan used by Nazi-era SA stormtroopers, the use of which is a felony in modern Germany. Hoecke has already been convicted in a previous, separate trial of yelling out the slogan at a rally in 2021.
