The sunrise over Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire on a sunny start to Thursday morning but the rain is forecast to come back at the weekend.The Met Office forecast for today states there will be rain across northern areas turning more showery through the day, but still some heavy and possibly thundery showers for south-east Scotland and northern England. Elsewhere, sunny spells and a few showers, then turning wet and windy in the south-west later.Tonight:Rain, some heavy moving north across Wales and much of England, followed by heavy, thundery showers in the south. Very windy in the south-west with coastal severe gales.Friday:Very windy in the far south during the morning, as more persistent rain clears, to leave sunny spells and scattered heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms.Outlook for Saturday to Monday:Sunshine and showers in the south with the chance of a thunderstorm. Drier in the north. Temperatures around or just below average with light or moderate winds.
