Kiana Yarahmadi, a 31 year old holder of BA degree in Law, rests as she works as a mechanic in Rad Auto Technic centre in Tehran, Iran, 21 June 2022. in Rad Auto Technic centre in Tehran, Iran, 21 June 2022. Yarahmadi, who has left Law occupation and started the mechanic carrier as a volunteer learner with her close friend Niloufar Farahmand in a small garage almost 4 years ago now separated from her to work in an auto centre in northern of Tehran, says that her goal is to go abroad to learn more and to bring that experience and knowledge to Iran one day to build her own auto centre with other women colleagues. Working as a female mechanic used to be taboo in Iran as it is considered mostly male-dominated, we had many difficulties at first but finally, we have broken this taboo and now many women are looking to work as a car mechanics and they always contact us and ask for advice. It wasn't easy at first as male colleagues didn't accept us around but by passing time they accepted us, and now many of them also ask for technical advice from time to time. We didn't expect that we get such kind and positive feedback from society even from religious people who generally don't like and accept women to work, but they have also encouraged us and given us lots of positive energy. Farhmand and Yarahmadi have passed all the mechanical lessons and tests which exist in Iran, and now they don't see it enough and they want to go abroad to learn more and work in a professional way. Yarahmadi complained about sanctions against Iran saying these days finding the original material is getting worse and it has affected our job and we can't work well as we have also many troubles with customers over fake and second-hand materials.
