Britain's "Smelliest" Village, Thames Water Sewage Discharges, Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, UK - 09 Jul 2024
The pretty village of Chalfont St Giles in Buckinghamshire, has been named the "smelliest village in Britain". Since January this year Thames Water have been discharging sewage from the Amersham Balacing Tanks into the River Misbourne, a precious chalk stream, which runs through Chalfont St Peter for more than 3,500 hours. The Chalfont St Giles Parish Council have now closed access to the children's playground (pictured) the village pond and the bridge across the River Misbourne to try to stop villagers coming into contact with possible pollution. The village are also sadly not entering the annual Best Kept Village due to the ongoing sewage issues
