WWII: Australia: Air Force.Allied air activity in the Far East. Allied bomber in the Far East have recently been increasingly active in their attacks on Japanese held bases in New Guinea and New Britain. It is from these bases that the Japs hope to invade Australia and New Zealand but with American and British production soaring to new record heights, more and more reinforcements are being sent to the Far East for the coming turn of the tide when the Allies will pass from the defensive to the offensive. Meantime the strafing of these enemy bases has destroyed aircraft, aerodromes, fuel dumps and shipping and this artist's impression shows an attack by Allied bombers, including American B-17 Flying Fortresses, on a Japanese airfield when a direct hit was made on a group of three enemy bombers on the ground and another group of four was damaged by a near miss from a heavy bomb
