Former aluminium plant chimney stack demolished to make way for Anglesey Freeport, Holyhead, United Kingdom - 20 Mar 2024
The chimney stack of the former Anglesey Aluminium smelting plant is demolished in Holyhead, Britain, 20 March 2024. The 122-meter chimney stack at the former aluminium plant has dominated the Holyhead skyline for over 50 years, but has been inactive for over a decade since smelting work ended at the site. The land is being cleared to make way for the Anglesey Freeport, a special economic zone, which would offer tax and customs reliefs with the aim of increasing and simplifying post-Brexit international trade.
