Nine people injured in a blast in Quetta, Pakistan - 17 Jan 2024
Pakistani security officials inspect the scene of a blast in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan province, Pakistan, 17 January 2024. A blast on Quetta's Zarghoon Road left nine people injured, including a traffic policeman and three children, as explosive material planted in a heap of trash detonated while the children were sifting through it. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Jawad Tariq, confirmed the incident, stating it was not a security lapse and that the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, with two in critical condition. This comes in the wake of recent attacks, including a grenade incident involving a PPP candidate in Turbat and a school targeting Kharan during a polling staff training session.
