Press conference on SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) status on the Moon, Tokyo, Japan - 25 Jan 2024
JAXA presents a photograph of SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) on the Moon surface taken by Lunar Excursion Vehicle (LEV-2) during a press conference in Tokyo, Japan, 25 January 2024. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) announced its SLIM spacecraft landed on the Moon within about 55 meters of its target, which represents a very high degree of precision. JAXA then achieved its objective of landing the craft within 100 meters of its target. The aerospace agency also released the first image of the lunar landing, a first for Japan.
