Picture dated June 22nd shows red paint over the front of the Cambridge University Senate House Protesting King's College students had Palestinian flags and badges confiscated as they attended their graduation ceremony at Cambridge University today (Wed). Extra security was also put in place to deal with protestors as graduation ceremonies took place at the historic Senate House, which was sprayed with red paint by Palestine Action at the weekend. Afterwards some students were seen posing with Faqqua Irises, the national flower of Palestine, and waving Palestinian flags. The red paint, which was thrown over the 18th century graduation hall by Cambridge students on Saturday (June 22), has since been removed. The students, in collaboration with Palestine Action sprayed the paint to demand the University of Cambridge "divest from genocide." Palestine Action tweeted on Saturday: "BREAKING: Cambridge Students, in collaboration with Palestine Action, spray historic hall red demanding the University of Cambridge divest from genocide. "The action took place ahead of planned graduations at the University's Senate House." It comes after last month graduation ceremonies had to be moved from the historic hall, where they have been held since the 18th Century, to a secret location following a protest against the war in Gaza. The Cambridge for Palestine group set up tents outside King's College and later moved to the lawn outside the Senate House in protest.
