Search operations for people under the rubble in the basements used as shelters, the chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Synegubov said. The cultural center, the school and the former officers' house were destroyed in an overnight shelling of the city, accordding to Synebugov. Kharkiv and surrounding areas have been the target of heavy shelling since February 2022, when Russian troops entered Ukraine starting a conflict that has provoked destruction and a humanitarian crisis.
