German Chancellor Scholz visits the Jewish Community of Erfurt, Germany - 31 May 2024
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (R) and Federal Commissioner for Eastern Germany Carsten Schneider (C) visit the 'Alte Synagoge' (Old Synagogue), Europe's oldest synagogue, in Erfurt, Germany, 31 May 2024. The synagogue, that is now a museum and no longer in use for religious services, dates back over 900 years, making it Europe's oldest surviving synagogue. Scholz visited the museum and Jewish Community within his visit to the 103rd 'Katholikentag' (lit: Catholics Day) that takes place in Erfurt from 29 May to 02 June 2024.
