New Delhi residents face water shortage as temperatures rise, India - 26 Jun 2024
Indian people rush to fill water canisters from a Delhi Jal Board tanker, the government agency responsible for supplying potable water to most of the National Capital Territory region of Delhi, at a makeshift settlement in Geeta Colony, New Delhi, India, 26 June 2024. As summer approaches, they face water scarcity because the tanker supply is insufficient to meet their daily needs due to the water shortage in Delhi. Delhi's Water Minister, Atishi, has been admitted to the hospital after her health deteriorated during an indefinite hunger strike against the Haryana government for not releasing 100 million gallons per day (MGD) of water, thus exacerbating the water crisis in the national capital.
