Tennessee House Bill 9/HB9 Drag Show Bill, Cordell Hull Building, Nashville, TN, USA - 14 Feb 2023
Protest signs larger than a letter size sheet of paper are not allowed in the Cordell Hull Building in Nashville and are left in the entrance way before entering security to attend the Tennessee General Assemby committee hearings. LGBTQ+ activists and supporters held the Have a Heart Tennessee Rally on February 14, 2023 in Legislative Plaza in front of the Tennessee State Capitol before marking to Cordell Hull Building to the Tennessee House Criminal Justice full committee hearing on HB9. House Bill 9 (HB9), sponsored by Tennessee State Representative Chris Todd (R-Jackson) would ban many drag performances from taking place on any public property in the state, as well as in any location where people under 18 could be present. It would make it illegal to take kids to drag shows. The bill passed the committee and the companion bill to HB9 in the Tennessee State Senate, SB3, has already passed.
