A catrina sits between white roses and cherry blossoms in full bloom, an image exhibited at the Consulate of Mexico in Fresno, California. The photo exhibition ''The Catrinas of Japan 2023 - Nippon'' brings together 12 selected fine art images of Catrines and Catrines created between 2021 and 2023. In six images materialize the concept of ''death and the beyond'' from the perspective of Mexican traditions combined with elements of Japanese culture to cement relations between the Mexican and Japanese communities in Fresno City and celebrate the 135th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Japan. Meanwhile, the last six photos were exhibited at Canon galleries in Tokyo and Osaka this year. To make known the Day of the Dead traditions in Japan through one of its most iconic characters, La Catrina. The works were created by the creative studio R&N Photography in Tokyo, which merges from the joint work between the photojournalist Rodrigo Reyes Marin and graphic designer Nahomi Moriyama.
