Deep Pink Appears In Talawe Wetlands Mumbai, Maharashtra, India - 14 May 2020

An emergence of a deep pink colour at one closed section of the Talawe wetlands in NRI Complex on May 14, 2020 in Navi Mumbai, India. It has been identified as rare and first of its kind occurrence by Bombay Natural History Society. While they are not sure of what may have caused it, they presume that this type of characteristic colouration of the water happens due to microscopic algae and bacteria which produce beta-carotene that flamingos feed on giving them an orangish-pink colour. Also evaporation due to rising humidity and salinity is also an added factor.
