Those Killed During Russian Invasion of Ukriane Remembered in Amsterdam, Netherlands - 03 Jun 2023

The remains of dead flowers left by observers in front of treads of damaged RussiaN tank on display at Amsterdam's Leidseplein. On June 3, 2023, the group, Dutch Feminist Anti-War Resistance, protested in front of the tank to remember the 8,000+ Ukrainians who have been killed since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and also to honour Children's Day (on June 1) - to draw attention to the crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainian children. Activists from the Dutch Feminist Anti-War Resistance covered themselves in fake blood and stood/sat silent for 1.5 hours in front of the damaged Russian tank. On May 27, 2023, a damaged RussiaN T72 tank was put on display at Amsterdam's Leidseplein square. The purpose of this installation is best described by Amsterdam's mayor, Femke Halsema, as a warning that "peace, humanity, democratic values and freedom cannot be taken for granted." It cannot be missed that these values are under attack. These messages have drawn a mixed response - from both anti-war protestors, who have left flowers and messages on the tank, to pro-RussiaN counter-protestors dawning Russian flags and expressing pro-Russian sentiments.
