Freddie Mercury outfit has sold for almost £200,000, UK - 30 Jun 2024

The suit was sold alongside two pairs of shoes he wore in the video. They are Mercury's 'crown' size 8.5 black velvet loafers and his black leather winkle-Picker (PICTURED) shoes with exaggerated toes. The costume worn by Freddie Mercury in one of his final video appearances has sold for almost £200,000. The Queen star was seen in the two-piece black wool Antony Price suit while filming the music video for I'm Going Slightly Mad in 1991. He had extra layers of clothing and make up on to conceal his emaciated figure as he was extremely ill with AIDS. Despite this, he had a 'significant creative input' in the black and white video, co-directing some of the storyboards. The musical icon died months later in November 1991 aged 45, sparking national mourning.
