Black vultures, Spain - 27 Sep 2023
This pair of black vultures show off their large wingspan as they fight over scraps of food in mountains near Madrid, Spain. The photos were taken by Julie Yates from Cumbria. She said, 'Black vultures are one of the largest birds of prey in Europe and is classed as vulnerable in Spain. They have a wingspan of almost three metres.'I spotted both black and griffon vultures feasting on some meat and before long the food had been eaten. They then started scavenging for the scraps causing them to fight.'It was all over in a few seconds and neither bird was injured - just a few feathers ruffled!'Important information
