Mexican authorities in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, found the body of a Venezuelan migrant on Monday who had been reported missing on Sunday after he and a group of foreigners jumped into the Rio Grande in an attempt to swim to the United States. The ongoing expiration of Title 42, a mechanism that has enabled the US to return numerous South and Central American migrants who have entered the country irregularly, has left asylum seekers in a desperate situation, with many attempting to cross the border by any means necessary.
