Venezuelan migrant drowned in Rio Grande attempting to reach US, México, MX - 02 May 2023

Mexican authorities in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, found the body of a Venezuelan migrant on Monday who had been reported missing on Sunday after he and a group of foreigners jumped into the Rio Grande in an attempt to swim to the United States. The ongoing expiration of Title 42, a mechanism that has enabled the US to return numerous South and Central American migrants who have entered the country irregularly, has left asylum seekers in a desperate situation, with many attempting to cross the border by any means necessary. FOOTAGE SHOWS THE RECOVERY OF THE BODY OF THE VENEZUELAN MAN WHO DROWNED IN THE RIO BRAVO, IN MATAMOROS, NORTHEASTERN STATE OF TAMAULIPAS, MEXICO. *EDITOR'S WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SCENES THAT SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND DISTURBING.*
