Britain's opposition Labour Party said they would launch a crackdown on American-style sweetshops to revitalize Britain's high streets if they win the next election. Westminster City Council is investigating unpaid business rates of around 9 million GBP (10.36 million EUR) from 26 shops on London's Oxford Street alone. Shops also sell imported vapes and unlicensed Harry Potter merchandise and mostly appeared during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
