Wartime themed Air Raid Shelter Cafe offers a shelter from todays modern times, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK - 29 Feb 2024
The recently relocated Air Raid Shelter Cafe and Tea Room in High Wycombe. The Air Raid Shelter Cafe and Tea Room is a converted pub and from the minute you step in past the sandbags and war time signs set up in the low doorway it feels like you are stepping way back in time. Wartime music plays echoing out and the whole place is kitted out with historic memorabilia and retro furniture, much of which many local people have generously donated. The walls are full of pictures, signs, posters and letters from the era. The tearoom itself is a wonderful treasure trove of little nooks and crannies and hideaways to sit and enjoy a breakfast, cake or traditional afternoon tea. There's a village hall with singers singing wartime songs. You can even sit in a 1940s-themed railway carriage. Chris Miller, 43, the "one man band" entrepreneur behind the Air Raid Shelter Café and Tea Room, formerly inside the Chilterns Shopping Centre, said he is "more excited than ever" to welcome residents into the café's new site the former venue of his recently closed bar Sosh Club in Frogmoor, High Wycombe.중요 정보
