Maureen La Frenais polishes up her lighthouse masterpiece ahead of the trail launching this weekend.
Lighthouses are set to Light the South this weekend as they hit the streets of Southampton, Hants and Cowes, Isle of Wight for charity. Light the South features 40 lighthouses, each standing 8ft tall, crafted by a selection of top local and renowned artists to form unique masterpieces. In addition to the main trail, there are 40 smaller sculptures called Little Lights, designed by local schools and community groups, creating a free family-friendly trail.
Hoping to shine light and raise money for Southampton Children's Hospital, the official charity of the hospital, are launching a public art trail set to illuminate the streets of Southampton and Cowes over the summer. Ellis Banfield, Southampton Hospitals Charity Chief Executive, said: "We're thrilled to be launching Light the South. As well as creating a brilliant adventure for families, this spectacular trail will help Southampton Hospitals Charity raise vital funds for our Children's Hospital, one of the top three paediatric centres across the country."
