(Issued 29 May 2024) Baker, a transgender man, spent much of his young adult life grappling with his gender identity, but now, through his passion for boxing, he has found a sense of community and a safer space in which to flourish. "I had a bilateral mastectomy which changed my life. Every summer I was wearing a vest and three tee-shirts because if you saw my boobs then my life was over. I didn't learn to swim till I was 21. I had to wear a tee shirt or all in one swim suit," says Baker. Removing his breasts has brought him to life, he explains. "Now I walk around with my top off 90% of the time. Most people think trans people are trying to be in your face but we are not, we are just embracing the free-ness. I knew being transgender meant I couldn't have a family like other people but I also knew it meant I could be happy." He met Cherelle Mcshera via social media app Tik Tok. Online in September 2023, he is open about his gender status so she knew he was trans. Although she sees him as a man, Danny is Danny to her.Informação importante
