UK Armed Forces Team Captain Luke Reeson pictured ahead of the Invictus Games, taking place in London 11-14 September 2014. The team has been trained and selected by Help for Heroes Luke Reeson, Swimming: Corporal Luke Reeson, 25 and his team came under attack during a patrol in Afghanistan in November 2012. The team began to run towards the helicopter when Luke was shot. Two bullets hit his bag but four hit his body. Luke has been in the army since the age of 18. He was deployed to Iraq and twice in Afghanistan. In November 2012, during his second spell in Afghanistan, he was shot in both legs, shattering his tibia and fibula and damaging the nerves. The injury means Luke can no longer run, which he used to enjoy doing, and can only walk short distances. So, he has returned to the sport he used to excel in as a child Ð swimming. As a youngster, he represented his county and the North of England in the sport but, at the age of 12, gave it up in favour of playing rugby. He has recently qualified as an ASA Level 1 swim teacher and is completing his Level 2 in August. He is volunteering at his local club in Cumbria, working with children, and is helping us to support wounded, injured and sick at H4H open water and pool swimming. In 2013 Luke was supported by Help for Heroes to enable him to compete for the UK Team in AmericaÕs Warrior Games.
