Taliban militants shot dead the head of the Afghan government's information center 06 August, the insurgents and officials said, in a second major attack this week targeting administration officials in the capital. The Kabul attacks come at a time of marked instability in Afghanistan, where the definitive withdrawal of US-led foreign forces has triggered an unprecedented Taliban offensive. The Taliban have captured around 125 district centers over the past three months, the biggest territorial gain in two decades of war.
