Ruins of Epecuen, Argentina - 23 Aug 2023
The Epecuen Slaughterhouse, the work of Architect Francisco Salamone, is located between the city of Carhue and the ruins of Epecuen, an emblem of the time. Epecuen is the name of a ruinous Argentine tourist town, located 7 km from Carhue, in the district of Adolfo Alsina, province of Buenos Aires. The city was founded in 1921 on the shores of the lake of the same name, it had around 1,500 habitants and was visited by an average of 25,000 tourists during the summer. Its waters are attributed healing properties due to the high level of salinity, which was a tourist attraction in those years. In 1985, a flood caused by the flooding of the lake left the town completely underwater, forcing the evacuation of its inhabitants. The city remained flooded for more than 20 years, later, the water began to recede, exposing the ruins that have become a tourist attraction.Informații importante
