Ukrainian rescuers and firefighters gather at the site of a drone attack on the Roman Shukhevych memorial museum building in the district of Bilohorshcha, on the outskirts of western city of Lviv, Ukraine, early 01 January 2024, amid the Russian invasion. According to Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy, early drone attacks on New Year's Day damaged a university in Dublyany, where Stepan Bandera studied 100 years ago, and a monument to Roman Shukhevych, a commander of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), in Lviv's district of Bilohorshcha. Ukrainians on 01 January 2024 mark the 115th anniversary of Stepan Bandera's birthday. Stepan Bandera was a Ukrainian politician and one of the leaders of the Ukrainian national movement in occupied Western Ukraine (Galicia), who headed the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Russian troops entered Ukrainian territory on 24 February 2022, starting a conflict that has provoked destruction and a humanitarian crisis.
