John Lapham
General Counsel John Lapham is Shutterstock’s General Counsel. In this role, he is responsible for leading all aspects of Shutterstock’s global legal strategy, serving as a strategic advisor on business and legal issues, and as the manager of the organization’s overall risk and business development. Prior to Shutterstock, John served as General Counsel, SVP Government Affairs at Rover.com where he managed the strategic and practical aspects of legal, regulatory, corporate governance, and business affairs work and served as the primary legal advisor for the acquisitions of Rover’s two previous global competitors in the US and EU. Prior to that, John spent 14 years with Getty Images, Inc. as VP, Deputy GC, and then SVP, General Counsel. John built the company’s legal team and had direct oversight and involvement with global intellectual property, regulatory, and lobbying strategies, as well as oversaw more than $6.5B in merger and acquisition work globally. John received his B.A. from Southern Illinois University and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.
